About Me
I currently reside in Leeds Alabama with my wife and two daughters. I was born and raised in Hawaii, where I studied traditional black & white film photography in college. When I decided to experiment with color photography, I gave digital imaging a try. Since then, I’ve spent the last eight years fine-tuning my techniques in capturing, processing, and printing digital images. My work is currently focused on landscapes and the natural world.
About my prints
What I liked about black and white film photography is that I had total control of the process from beginning to end. Shooting digitally and having my prints made in a lab somewhere printed by a stranger or a machine was very unfulfilling, so I have begun printing, matting, and framing all of my own work. I have a high standard of excellence, and I believe in using premium materials which have all been chosen to ensure that my prints will last for generations to come. It’s what I want on my walls, so owners of my prints deserve no less. Here is a list of some the equipment and materials that I currently use.
- I print on an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 using 8-color UltraChrome K3 pigmented inks.
- My paper of choice is Canson 310gsm 100% cotton rag paper that contains none of the optical brightening agents that many other photos papers do.
- I cut all of my mats using 4-ply Bainbridge Alpharag 100% cotton mat boards. Each print is dry mounted via heat press to a back mat board, with a bevel cut window mat placed over it.
- I use Nielsen metal frames with TruVue acrylic glazing that blocks 99% of harmful UV rays.
